PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY

We believe each skater should have the opportunity for a positive youth sports experience. Our program provides each child the opportunity to learn the game of roller derby and try all positions, so they can learn the sport and enjoy the positive benefits of exercise and being on a team. Our coaches and kids are able to focus on skill, development, teamwork and the most important thing... Fun!

Currently we maintain two teams, an A-Team and B-Team. Roller Derby rules allow for 14 skaters rostered for a game, we typically have more league members per team, up to 20, so some skaters may not be rostered for all bouts. There are many factors that go into rostering a skater, one of them is attendance, please make as many practices as possible. Developing a team takes time and showing up makes all the difference, we feel this allows for maximum participation for each skater and is the best way to develop aptitude for the sport of roller derby.
Each team will have a least one dedicated parent volunteer and one administrator to manage the logistics of bouting, practices, and overseeing communication within the league. The I-5 Rollergirls have a driven interest in creating positive environments in both practices and games.

All of this leads to greater success for the skater and a rich youth sports experience.
